George built our dream beach house at Emerald Isle in 2009. He is a meticulous builder with surgically precise skills, whose work received great reviews from a friend who is also a general contractor. He brought new ideas to our plans, like suggesting we move a staircase, thus minimizing someone taking a tumble. He thinks of things other builders don't, like rounded corners of walls (rather than sharp) which decreases the chance of injury by a running child or an out-of-control adult! Most of all, he is honest, easy to get along with, fair, and enjoyable to work with. My husband and I have built two homes over the past years, and the George Guthrie home is absolutely the best! We have been in our home close to 4 years, and when we sit on the porch we still marvel at the quality and details that Mr. Guthrie made happen. We first visited emerald isle in 1980; and after a few short years we were pretty sure that it would be our choice for retirement. We built a small rental house in Emerald Isle in 1983 and spent several years vacating here from the various places we lived.
After building several home throughout the East Coast, we knew that we wanted a god quality retirement home and that we needed to find a special builder who would be able to deliver our vision. George Guthrie was the right choice.
Throughout the entire building process, George worked closely with us and was very accommodating even during the periods of disagreement which is a huge part of building a home.
